TURA, April 10: The Election Commission of India has transferred North Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Bruno A Sangma in an order issued today.
He was replaced by Abraham T Sangma, Commandant of 2nd MLP Battalion.
In an order issued by Secretary of ECI Santosh Kumar Dubey to the Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya, the order stated that the Commission has considered the panel of officers proposed by the Home (A) Department, Govt of Meghalaya and approved the name of Abraham T Sangma.
Abraham T Sangma has been directed to join duty with immediate effect.
The replacement of the North Garo Hills SP Bruno A Sangma comes about after a complaint was registered with the Election Commission of India pointing out that the said officer is related to current NPP candidate and sitting MP Agatha K Sangma and it would be against the conduct of a free and transparent election. Bruno Sangma is the brother-in-law of Agatha’s husband.
