Guwahati, July 14: BJP MLA Manab Deka on Tuesday accused what he termed “Facebook terrorists” of spreading misinformation on social media and creating a fear psychosis that discourages investors and tourists from coming to Assam.

Participating in the Budget discussion in the Assam Assembly, the Lakhimpur MLA said the state should welcome major investments and urged people to stop portraying Assam negatively.

“I request the Chief Minister to bring investors like Adani and Ambani to Assam. If they come to Lakhimpur, I will give them a grand traditional welcome,” Deka said.

Highlighting the government’s push for semiconductor and Aviation Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) projects, Deka said semiconductors are the “fuel of the 21st century” and would drive future industrial growth.

Taking a swipe at the Opposition, he alleged that those who oppose development while criticising the government for a lack of progress were adopting double standards.

He urged all political parties to support Assam’s industrial growth and act as ambassadors for investment in the state.
