Guwahati, Oct 15: In a major development in the Zubeen Garg death case, five accused, including Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma, have been remanded to judicial custody. The other three—Sandeepan Garg and personal security officers Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Baishya—were also sent to jail following the end of their CID custody.
Mahanta and Sharma were brought to the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Guwahati on Wednesday amid tight security arrangements. Their appearance before the court marked the conclusion of their CID remand, with law enforcement agencies maintaining heightened vigilance during their transfer, underscoring the sensitivity of the case.

Senior advocate Mintu Saikia informed that none of the accused have sought bail. Sources indicated that Mahanta and Sharma might be shifted to Baksa District Jail in Mushalpur, though temporary arrangements have been made at Guwahati Central Jail.
Before being lodged in jail, all five accused are to undergo medical examination at Pan Bazar Police Station.
The CID continues to probe the case, and further judicial proceedings are expected in the coming days.
