Williamnagar, Aug 10: Tura’s A•chik Warriors made history on 10th August 2025, clinching two gold medals and one silver medal at the Bidang Mixed Martial Arts Tournament held at RGB Road, Sundarpur, Guwahati. The event kicked off at 7 a.m. and saw fierce competition from fighters across the region.
A total of seven members, including the coach and team, travelled to Guwahati, with three fighters stepping into the cage for their debut tournament. Despite it being their first-ever MMA event, the Tura fighters delivered a spectacular performance, displaying skill, grit, and technique that their opponents couldn’t match.

This historic win brought immense pride to the people of Garo Hills, marking the first time fighters from the region had competed and triumphed at such a level.
Speaking to Hub News over the phone, Johnsonbon G. Momin the President of West Garo Hills Wrestling Association expressed heartfelt thanks to Almighty God for the achievement.

He also extended his gratitude to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K. Sangma, the Speaker of Meghalaya, and the MLA of North Tura Thomas A. Sangma for their support and financial assistance, stating that without their help, participating in the tournament would not have been possible.
