Dibrugarh, Apr 8: In a significant development underscoring Dibrugarh’s rising prominence, global hospitality major Marriott International has announced the signing of Courtyard by Marriott Dibrugarh—marking the entry of an international hotel chain into one of Assam’s most important urban and economic centres.
The upcoming hotel, to be developed in partnership with Tulip Estates and managed by NILE Hospitality, will come up at Chowkidinghee in the heart of the city. It will feature 75 rooms and suites, a swimming pool, banquet facilities, and a rooftop dining space, catering to both business and leisure travellers.
More than just a hospitality project, the move highlights Dibrugarh’s growing role as a gateway to Upper Assam and the wider Northeast—driven by its strategic location, tea industry dominance, expanding connectivity, and increasing commercial activity.
Speaking on the development, Vikram Singh Chauhan said the project reflects confidence in Dibrugarh’s unique blend of nature, community, and commerce. He noted that the hotel will elevate accommodation standards while reinforcing the city’s importance as a business and agricultural hub in eastern India.
Parth Lohia echoed the sentiment, stating that Dibrugarh is rapidly emerging as a key hub in Northeast India, making it the right time to introduce globally benchmarked hospitality infrastructure.
Expected to be operational before Durga Puja this year, the hotel is set to strengthen Dibrugarh’s position as a fast-growing urban centre—supporting tourism, trade, and investment in Upper Assam while bringing the city closer to the global hospitality circuit.
