Must read

Williamnagar, Sep 3: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Mangsang Regional Unit, organised a public meeting at the Mangsang Bamil playground to press for several long-pending demands. These included the creation of a separate Mangsang Block Development Office, the upgradation of Mangsang PHC to a CHC, expediting the construction of the Rongjeng–Mangsang–Adokgre Road, the upgradation of the Mangsang Police Outpost, and the establishment of a Fire and Emergency Service at Mangsang.

Despite heavy rain, the meeting witnessed a strong turnout with the participation of Nokmas, Sardars, religious leaders, and representatives from various civil societies including the FKJGP and the Block Demand Committee. The local MDC of Mangsang, Hennen R. Sangma, also attended the gathering. In his address, he lauded the initiative of the GSU, civil societies, and the people of Mangsang, stating that such collective action is the only way to ensure that the government pays attention to their demands. He further emphasized that individual voices often go unheard, but when people unite, their demands carry weight and can yield positive results.

Following the meeting, a peaceful rally was organized, where participants marched together to demonstrate unity and solidarity in voicing their collective aspirations for the development of Mangsang.
