GSU presses Police chief for speedy, transparent investigation into Rikkambe Sangma murder Case

Williamnagar, July 31: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Eastern Zone, has called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the brutal murder of Lt. Rikkambe J. Sangma, a student who was allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend on July 18.

A delegation of the GSU also met with the Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya Idashisha Nongrang, on Thursday to press for speedy progress in the case.

During the meeting, the DGP informed the GSU representatives that she had received the preliminary enquiry report submitted by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Subir S. Sangma.

However, she assured them that the investigation remains ongoing and that all possible angles are being thoroughly explored.

The DGP also confirmed that the body recovered from Dawa Matchacolgre is undergoing forensic analysis. A DNA test will be conducted and matched with the victim’s family before the body is formally handed over.

The GSU Eastern Zone reiterated its demand for justice and urged the authorities to ensure there are no lapses or delays in the investigation process.

The Union in a press release expressed solidarity with the victim’s family and affirmed its commitment to pursuing the matter until justice is served.
