SHILLONG, APR 7: The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in collaboration with the Meghalaya State TB Control Society, has successfully organized two comprehensive screening and general health camps as part of the “100 Days TB Campaign”.
The camps, held on April 4 and April 6, 2026, at Nongmensong and Mawryngkneng respectively, aimed to combat tuberculosis through proactive community engagement.
A total of 116 people were screened, with 17 abnormal chest X-rays reported, and sputum samples collected for further investigation.
“We applaud the efforts done by NEIGRIHMS. These camps represent a significant step in the ‘100 Days TB Campaign’, highlighting the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between medical institutions and state health bodies,” said Prof Nalin Mehta, Director, NEIGRIHMS.
The camps also provided general health examinations, benefiting 32 patients. The initiative demonstrates the commitment to public health, going beyond TB screening to provide broader healthcare services to the community.
The event showcased the synergistic partnership between NEIGRIHMS and the Meghalaya State TB Control Society, with essential human resources and logistical support provided by the two organizations.
