SHILLONG, FEB 27: An area commander of the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council active in West Khasi Hills surrendered to police in Mairang, Eastern West Khasi Hills on Thursday before being escorted to meet the Director General of Police.

Police sources said the circumstances were being kept confidential.

“He has provided actionable information, which is being processed,” a senior officer said, declining further details.

“Operational sensitivity prevents us from disclosing more at this stage.”

In a separate development, police arrested two men alleged to be responsible for a blast attempt in Umsning.
