Tura, Feb 6: In a boost to healthcare support in West Garo Hills, IDBI Bank’s Hawakhana Branch on Friday donated eight wheelchairs and 10 stretchers to Tura Civil Hospital, strengthening patient mobility and easing pressure on hospital staff.
The handover ceremony was attended by a senior delegation from the bank, including Branch Head Muankim Vaiphei, Assistant Manager Priyankesh Sharma, and Junior Assistant Manager Priyanka Sharma, along with other staff members.
Highlighting the intent behind the initiative, Assistant Manager Priyankesh Sharma said the bank’s role extends beyond financial services.
“Mobility is a fundamental aspect of healthcare dignity. By providing these wheelchairs and stretchers, IDBI Bank aims to ensure that patients in Tura receive the necessary physical support during their most vulnerable moments,” he said.
The equipment was formally received by Joint Director-cum-Superintendent Dr. Kevin D.G. Momin, who welcomed the contribution and noted that the additional mobility aids would help address daily logistical challenges faced by both patients and healthcare workers.
Hospital authorities said the new wheelchairs and stretchers would improve patient movement within the facility, particularly in emergency and high-footfall areas.
The initiative reflects growing corporate engagement in strengthening public health infrastructure in Meghalaya through community-driven outreach and partnerships.
IDBI Bank’s Hawakhana Branch, located in Lower Hawakhana, Tura, offers a range of banking services including deposits, loans, and digital banking facilities, and has been actively involved in community-focused initiatives in the region.
