IIM Shillong welcomes new batches of working professionals for PGPWE and PhDWP Programs

Shillong, June 1: The Indian Institute of Management Shillong formally welcomed the 6th batch of its Post Graduate Program for Working Executives (PGPWE 2025–27) and the 7th batch of the PhD Program for Working Professionals (PhDWP 2025) during an inauguration ceremony held on campus.

This year, the PGPWE program received 90 registrations, while 16 professionals enrolled in the institute’s coveted doctoral program, reflecting a growing demand for advanced, industry-relevant education among working executives in India.

Prof. Nalini Prava Tripathy, Director (I/C), IIM Shillong, opened the ceremony with a message of inspiration and empowerment. “This is not just a degree; it is a platform to amplify your potential,” she said, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to delivering future-focused education tailored to experienced professionals poised for leadership.

Delivering the inaugural address as Chief Guest, Charan Singh, Advisor, ASSOCHAM, emphasized the transformative potential of vision and hard work. “You are not here by accident — you are the custodians of the IIM legacy,” he told the new participants, urging them to lead India’s rise as a global force with ambition and integrity.

Guest of Honour, Sridhar CV, Head of Alliances, Incubation, Research and Innovation at TCS, reinforced the value of perseverance. “There is no shortcut to hard work,” he said, encouraging participants to view their academic journey as a launchpad for long-term impact in business and society.

The program overviews were presented by Prof. Bidyut Jyoti Gogoi, Chairperson – Admissions, while Prof. Mousumi Bhattacharya, Chairperson – Doctoral Programs, and Prof. Sitanshu Sekhar Das, Chairperson – Executive PGP, introduced the respective academic pathways.

Prof. Rohit Joshi, Dean – Academics, led the participants in a formal Pledge of Commitment, marking the start of their learning journey at IIM Shillong.

As part of their orientation, participants attended a five-day immersion program (May 26–30, 2025) on campus, designed to foster engagement with faculty, peers, and the wider IIM Shillong community.
