Itanagar, Sept 14: The Indian Army’s Spear Corps has successfully carried out a high-intensity combat exercise, ‘Dibang Shakti,’ in the rugged terrain of Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley, showcasing its preparedness for modern-day challenges along the eastern frontier.
Conducted in one of the country’s most difficult landscapes — marked by dense forests, steep mountains, and unpredictable weather — the exercise was designed to validate the Corps’ asymmetric warfare capabilities. Troops demonstrated advanced jungle warfare skills, survival techniques, and combat free-fall operations, underscoring their ability to respond swiftly to unconventional threats.

Army officials highlighted that the drill tested not only physical endurance but also mental resilience, with soldiers navigating uncharted terrain under simulated combat scenarios. The exercise emphasised rapid-response operations in high-altitude and jungle environments, conditions seen as critical for India’s security posture in the Northeast.
‘Dibang Shakti’ also involved seamless coordination between different arms of the armed forces, backed by the use of advanced technology to enhance situational awareness and operational efficiency. The Army stated that the exercise reinforced its commitment to holistic combat readiness in complex terrain.

The Spear Corps, headquartered in Assam, is tasked with safeguarding sensitive stretches of the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh. Military observers see the Dibang Valley drill as a strong message of preparedness, combining tactical innovation with resilience to counter evolving security challenges.
The successful conduct of ‘Dibang Shakti’ reflects the Indian Army’s continued focus on adaptability and modernisation. It not only strengthens the confidence of troops on the ground but also reassures citizens of the Army’s unwavering resolve to secure the nation’s sovereignty.
