Tura, Sept 14: The Department of Agribusiness Management and Food Technology (ABMFT), North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tura Campus successfully organized a Short-Term Course on “Community Based Participatory Research: A Multidisciplinary Approach” from 8th to 13th September, 2025, in online mode.

The course witnessed enthusiastic participation from the teaching fraternity, representing twelve states and thirty-one diverse subject areas, reflecting wide academic interest in the theme. In his valedictory address, Prof. Deepak Bhagat, Head, Department of ABMFT, NEHU, Tura, and Coordinator of the programme, emphasized that Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) recognizes communities as equal partners rather than mere subjects of study.
He highlighted that CBPR leverages the local expertise of communities for generating more accurate, impactful, and sustainable outcomes. Prof. S. K. Dubey, Former Director, Institute of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, extended his congratulations to the organizing committee.

He highlighted that the choice of this theme and the convergence of multiple disciplines reflect a much-needed shift in the way research is conceptualized and conducted. Dr. Gino A. Sangma, Assistant Professor, Department of ABMFT, NEHU, Tura, and Joint Coordinator of the programme, acknowledged the participants for their active engagement, openness to interdisciplinary learning, and sustained enthusiasm throughout the sessions.
Representing the Pro-Vice Chancellor of NEHU, Tura Campus, Prof. J. U. Ahmed encouraged participants to carry forward the spirit of collaboration and community partnership into their future research and professional pursuits.

He also extended gratitude to Dr. Q. Kharbuli, Director (i/c), UGC-MMTTC, NEHU Shillong, and Dr. Kuheli B. Das, Assistant Professor, UGC-MMTTC, NEHU Shillong, for their valuable support in facilitating such programmes at NEHU Tura Campus. Dr. Q. Kharbuli, Director (i/c), UGC-MMTTC, NEHU Shillong, congratulated the Department of ABMFT, NEHU Tura, for successfully organizing the Short-Term Course.
Participants, in their feedback, also appreciated the department for its discipline, sincerity, and effective coordination with resource persons from across the country.
