Japan comes to Shillong! Experience Japan’s culture at ‘North East Japan Caravan 2023’

Shillong, Nov 17: To promote Japan culture in Meghalaya, the Japan Caravan was launched on Friday which was attended by the Ambassador of Japan to India, Hiroshi Suzuki, along with cabinet ministers – Ampareen Lyngdoh and AL Hek.

“North East Japan Caravan 2023” is jointly organised by the Japan Foundation, New Delhi, and Indian Council for Cultural Relations – North East (ICCR-NE) which started on Friday and will end on November 19.

The event was held at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong, where the Ambassador of Japan addressed the gathering and spoke about the growing Japan-India relations, particularly people-to-people exchanges.

Judo and Karate demonstrations and workshop by Meghalaya Judo Association and All Meghalaya Karate Association was also presented. An exotic tea ceremony was also showcased with the two cabinet ministers participating.

Cosplay lecture, performance, workshop, anime trivia games will be some of the events that have been scheduled for the upcoming days.

“Urge everyone to come and witness Japan Culture which will be here for three days. It’s my first time in Shillong but I see the similarity of cherry blossom trees. Our Japanese people love cherry blossom, so I look forward to the festival which is being held in the state,” said Suzuki.
