Guwahati, Aug 17: For many parents, keeping children away from mobile phones has become a daily struggle. At Guwahati’s first KidsPreneur Fair 2025, held from August 15 to 17, the challenge seemed to melt away as youngsters got busy with stalls, experiments, and crafts.
The three-day workshop, organised by Aye Events, saw 43 children between the ages of six and 15 trying their hands at coding games, science experiments, art, craft, and even small businesses. Instead of swiping screens, they were selling handmade bracelets, sketching portraits, and offering homemade snacks to curious visitors.
“This is not just a workshop, but a platform for children to showcase their hobbies and talents,” said organizer Madhumita Choudhury, watching a group of kids set up their display tables. “We wanted to give them an engaging alternative where they learn and parents feel satisfied too.”

For the children, the excitement was real. Harsha Kashyap Saha, a sixth-grader with a table full of colourful bracelets, admitted she still watches videos on her phone sometimes. “But now most of my free time goes into making orders and doing creative activities,” she said with a grin.
The fair ran daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., even on holidays like Janmashtami and Sunday. Co-organiser Beauty Gogoi said she was surprised to see kids remain so absorbed. “Usually it’s hard to keep their attention for long, but here they were happily occupied for hours.”
Parents, too, seemed impressed. One father, helping his son arrange hand-drawn bookmarks, said: “We are learning along with our kids — from communication skills to basic business lessons. They’re picking up how to sell, how to value money, and how to talk without hesitation.”
The fair may have ended, but the idea has clearly caught on. With positive feedback from families, the organisers are now planning to take the KidsPreneur Fair beyond Guwahati.
