Lok Sabha Election | Polling peaceful in Meghalaya, 48.91 percent voting till 1 pm

Shillong, Apr 19: The two constituencies in Meghalaya – Shillong and Tura has witnessed a good voters turnout. The polling across the State has been peaceful with voting of 48.91 percent by 1 pm.

In Shillong the turnout percentage is 50.23% and in Tura is 46.67% as at 1:00 PM.

All candidates in fray from Shillong and Tura have cast their votes.

A total of 22 lakh people will exercise their adult franchise in the State. The trend indicates that the voting percentage will go up further post 3 pm.

People from all walks of life is turning up to cast their votes. In almost all polling station within Shillong city, huge turnout are being reported.

Polling turnout in remote Baghmara in South Garo Hills has been swelling since early morning, with young and old turning up at the polling station.

In North and East Garo Hills, the queue has been long across several polling stations.

In Ribhoi and Jaintia Hills, the turnout at 1 pm was reported to be as high as 53 percent, while in East and West Khasi Hills, the voting percentage was 54.
