Dibrugarh, June 14: A major anti-drug operation is underway in Dibrugarh, with police conducting extensive raids in a residential colony at Kalibari, opposite the Dibrugarh Town Railway Station, following specific intelligence inputs about suspected narcotics activities in the area.
Multiple police teams fanned out across the colony on Saturday, carrying out searches at several houses and locations believed to be linked to an alleged drug trafficking network.
Sources said several individuals have been detained for questioning, while cash amounting to several lakhs of rupees has reportedly been recovered during the operation.
Officials, however, have remained tight-lipped about the exact number of detainees, the amount of money seized and whether any narcotic substances have been recovered, as searches continue.
Police sources indicated that the operation is aimed at dismantling a suspected drug distribution network operating in and around the area.
With the raid still in progress, further details are expected to emerge as the investigation unfolds.
