Dibrugarh, May 10: In a bizarre incident, a man was allegedly shot dead accidentally by his hunting partner near the forest area between Tirung village and Lingdongthong in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district.
The deceased has been identified as Longkhon Lama (54), a resident of Borduria village.
The incident occurred at around 5 pm on Saturday during a hunting trip.
According to sources, the duo had gone hunting in the jungle when the accidental firing took place, leading to Lama’s death on the spot.

Hunting in Tirap district is a deep-rooted traditional practice, particularly among the indigenous Nocte and Wancho tribes, where it is associated with food security, cultural rituals, and, to some extent, livelihood activities.
The incident has shocked local residents, while further details are awaited.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Borduria police station and an investigation has been launched.
