Tura, Feb. 11: A 47-year-old man died early Wednesday morning after his vehicle went off the road and plunged down a hillside near Tosekgre village, West Garo Hills District.
According to police personnel of Rongram Outpost, information about the accident was received at around 4 am. The deceased has been identified as Morning Ch. Sangma, son of Polindro Ch. Sangma, a resident of Arakgittim, Mahendraganj in South West Garo Hills, who had travelled to Tosekgre village at the time of the incident.
Police said the accident occurred when the vehicle (registration number ML-08-K-0519) reportedly went off the road while being reversed, causing it to fall down the hill. The driver was pulled out of the vehicle by locals and rushed to Tura Civil Hospital in an ambulance, where doctors declared him brought dead.
A police team has initiated an inquiry to ascertain the exact cause of the accident and post-mortem examination is being conducted.
