Tura, Feb 6: A 47-year-old man was killed in a suspected man–elephant conflict incident at Gasuapara in South Garo Hills district on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Abdull Munnaf, son of Mohasin Ali. He was travelling on a motorcycle from Kakripara in Assam to Sibbari in South Garo Hills when he was allegedly trampled by a wild elephant. The incident is believed to have occurred between 9:30 am and 10:30 am.

According to preliminary information, Munnaf encountered the elephant along the route near Gasuapara, which led to the fatal attack. Locals alerted authorities soon after the incident.
Human–elephant conflict cases have been reported from several parts of the Garo Hills region in recent months, particularly in areas located close to forest corridors and elephant movement routes.
Further details are awaited as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
