Manipur: Kuki Inpi slams state govt on “No work, no Pay” decision

Must read

Imphal, June 27: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the Kuki tribes made a strong resentment against the Manipur government’s decision to invoke “No work, no Pay” to employees of GAD, Manipur Secretariate and DP.

The Kuki Inpi Manipur alleged that “No Work, No Pay” only exposed the communal Manipur Government’s constant piecemeal ploy to achieve “Forced Peace” through “Terror Tactics”.

In a press release, KIM General Secretary, Khaikhohauh Gangte stated that the Manipur Government is putting the lives of so many employees, particularly survivors of the holocaust in Imphal valley at risk.

He also stated that it must be known that Kukis are hounded out of Imphal valley and it is no longer safe for them. “…our people have an indisposition to go back to Manipur valley against the backdrop of the unprecedented pogrom and the constant threats and attacks on Kuki villages and population by extremist Meitei organizations, bigoted Meiteis and their militias,” he said.

He wondered “when the extremist Meiteis are baying for the blood of the Kukis, and when even our elected representatives were not spared, how can employees risk the hazard of going back to the valley where they escaped death by a whisker?”

Reaffirming its stand on any peace initiatives regarding the alleged ongoing state-sponsored ethnic cleansing pogrom against the Kukis, KIM Secretary stated that while they are open to peace, KIM is steadfast in its stand that it would not be part of any peace initiative under incompetent communal government(s), CSOs or individuals who orchestrated genocidal killings against the Kukis with the sole intention to obliterate the Kukis as people physically and politically.

“Covert and overt attempts to initiate peace shall be met with stiff opposition until the demand for justice is met first as desired and aspired by the Kuki people for lasting and durable peace,” he stated.

Gangte further stated that KIM represents the sentiments and aspirations of its people and remains clear and steadfast in its position- “we want peace but not at the cost of justice.”
