Shillong, Aug 18: In a shocking incident on Monday, a 16-year-old schoolgirl was assaulted while on her way to school after two masked miscreants injected her with an unknown substance before fleeing the scene.

Speaking to reporters, the victim’s mother said her daughter was walking to school at around 2 PM when two youths on a scooty, parked near the Bible Society office close to Students’ Field, Jaiaw, stopped her. With their faces covered, the miscreants reportedly injected her on the left arm and immediately sped away.

The girl first went to a dispensary at Jaiaw Langsning but, with no doctor available, she was rushed to Dr. H. Gordon Roberts Hospital, Jaiaw, for urgent medical attention.

The mother informed that her daughter is currently under medical care and doctors are awaiting test results to determine the nature of the substance used in the injection.
