Shillong, Aug 18: The Meghalaya Cycling Association (MCA) conducted a two-day trial on August 15–16 to select athletes for the National Games 2027, which will be hosted in Meghalaya.
MCA president Lenin Bareh informed that the trial focused on the Mountain Bike (MTB) category, with more than 50 athletes from across the state participating.

He added that a second round of trials for the Road Bike category will be held on October 2, open to athletes aged 17 to 25 years.
Significantly, participants are not required to bring their own bicycles, as the association will provide them. “We want to encourage athletes from other sports as well, since they may possess the potential to excel in cycling,” Bareh explained.
Calling the upcoming National Games a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”, Bareh urged all eligible athletes in the state to take part in the selection trials.
