Nongpoh, May 9: A fire that erupted in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Nongpoh, Right Bhoi district, resulted in the destruction of seven shops. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties.
The affected shops were located in two different areas, with five situated in the Nongpoh town shopping complex and two in front of the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was able to control the flames.
Despite this, the shop owners expressed their distress as each of them suffered losses worth lakhs of rupees. They intend to file a complaint at Nongpoh Police Station and have called on the government to take stern action against those responsible for the incident.
Furthermore, it was discovered that the CCTV of the MCAB ATM was not functional due to lack of electricity.
