SHILLONG, FEB 7: The death toll in the Thangkso coal mine explosion in East Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya, has risen to 27, with the recovery of two more bodies from the site, according to the State Disaster Management Authority.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing, with nine injured persons currently admitted to hospital, said the Executive Director of the authority.
The authorities are continuing their efforts to recover any remaining victims and provide medical attention to those injured in the blast.
