SHILLONG, JUN 19: The Meghalaya High Court have asked the state government to furnish details of CCTV installations in police stations across Meghalaya, including Laban Police Station, as part of an ongoing PIL on police accountability.
A division bench of Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice W Diengdoh, while hearing a PIL filed by Kishan K Nongkynrih, directed the state to file an affidavit-in-reply within four weeks.


“The affidavit to set out the data with respect to CCTV cameras installed in the Laban Police Station as well as other Police Stations in the State of Meghalaya, their locations and the memory of the footage, etc,” the bench said in its order.
Additional Advocate General K Khan, appearing for the state, sought time to file the reply.
The court said an advance copy must be given to the petitioner’s counsel.
The matter has been listed for the next hearing on July 24, 2026.
The bench also asked the petitioner’s lawyer to serve a copy of the petition and the court order to respondent No. 8 for appearance through counsel on the next date.
