Shillong, Mar 8: The Meghalaya Police on Tuesday launched the MEG-Cop Watch – a mobile application that seeks to provide safety and security to women and children in distress.
The app will help women and children during challenging situations while encouraging everyone to download the MEG-Cop Watch application, informed Special DGP Idashisha Nongrang.
The app has been launched currently for the state capital Shillong but will be extended to cover all districts of Meghalaya in the upcoming months. The application shares the live location of any person in distress to the nearest police station for a quick and guaranteed response and intervention by the police. It is currently available in three languages – Khasi, English and Hindi.
The app aims to help make Meghalaya safer for women and children. It will provide safety for women who are studying, working, staying alone in PGs, hostels, living in remote areas and travelling at odd hours for work. The app will also secure children who are living with limited supervision while the parents are away at work.
