Meghalaya police permanently debars multiple candidates for using unfair means in recruitment drives

Must read

Shillong, June 2: The Central Recruitment Board (CRB) of Meghalaya Police has taken stern action against several candidates found engaging in malpractice during recent written examinations for various posts. This follows a previous incident where a candidate from East Jaintia Hills was permanently debarred.

In the latest instances, a written test for the post of Fireman was conducted on May 31, 2025. Despite clear instructions on examination rules, one candidate bearing Roll No. 33002444 resorted to unfair means at an examination centre in Eastern West Khasi Hills, violating the examination’s rules and guidelines. The CRB has declared this act “condemnable and intolerable” and has consequently debarred this individual from all future police recruitment processes, rejecting their candidature for the current drive.

Similarly, a written test for the posts of AB/BNC/MPRO GD/Constable Handyman was held on June 1, 2025. During this examination, two candidates – Roll No. 22049407 and Roll No. 22022738 – were reported for malpractice at examination centres in East Jaintia Hills. These individuals have also been debarred from future police recruitment and their current applications rejected.

These actions come on the heels of a similar incident where a candidate from East Jaintia Hills, Roll No. 33032220, was permanently debarred for using unfair means during a written test for the post of Driver Fireman on May 31, 2025. This individual was also found to have violated examination rules at a centre in East Jaintia Hills.

In a press statement, Inspector General of Police (SB/Bdr) Cum Chairman, CRB, Dalton P. Marak, emphasized that such acts of malpractice are “condemnable and intolerable” in the Transparent Recruitment Process (TRP) adhered to by the Meghalaya Police.

He further stated that any concerned individual wishing to contend, appeal, or file a representation against these orders may do so by submitting a petition to the appellate authority (CRB). This petition should be routed through the respective Superintendent of Police of the district where the examination was held, as they serve as the Examination-in-Charge for police examinations in that district.
