Guwahati, Nov 27: Meghalaya emerged as one of the standout performers at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025, securing the Gold Medal in the Thematic Presentation category, one of the most competitive segments of the annual event. The award was presented at the closing ceremony at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, by ITPO Managing Director Dr. Neeraj Kharwal.
Kerala and Andhra Pradesh followed with Silver and Bronze respectively, while Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura received commendations.
Meghalaya showcased its products and cultural richness at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) which got under way at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on November 14. Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma, who inaugurated the Meghalaya Pavilion, interacted with entrepreneurs, enquiring about their products.
The Meghalayan Age Ltd under the Planning Department facilitated the participation of Planning, DoFP, PRIME and Tourism departments.
Twenty-four entrepreneurs from PRIME startup and 18 from Directorate of Food Processing took part in the 14-day event, showcasing a range of products – handloom and handicraft items, woodcarvings, pottery, beverages, food processing products such as spices, juices, jams, candies, chips, pickles, teas and other indigenous products
This year’s IITF saw a vibrant mix of winners across categories. Rajasthan, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh took the top three positions in the Partner State category, while Maharashtra received a commendation. Jharkhand claimed the Gold Medal among Focus States. In the States and Union Territories category, Odisha secured Gold, followed by Madhya Pradesh with Silver and Puducherry with Bronze; Delhi, Goa and Karnataka earned commendation certificates.
As part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan activities, Haryana, Punjab and Assam were recognised with Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively for Swachh Pavilion efforts, while Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Uttarakhand and Tamil Nadu received commendations. Among foreign pavilions, Thailand took the Gold Medal, with Iran claiming Silver and Dubai earning Bronze, and special mentions going to the Republic of Korea, Turkey and the Tibetan Chamber of Commerce.
In the central government categories, the Ministry of Defence received the Gold Medal for its pavilion, the Ministry of Mines took Silver and the Ministry of Railways Bronze, while the Ministries of Ayush and Power and the SARAS Ajeevika Mela under the Ministry of Rural Development earned special commendations. In the PSUs and PSBs grouping, the Airports Authority of India won Gold, the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) secured Silver and the Food Corporation of India earned Bronze, with special mentions for the Ministry of Textiles, State Bank of India and LIC.
The commodity boards also saw strong competition, with Tea Board India taking the Gold Medal, followed by the Spice Board and the Coir Board with Silver and Bronze. Special commendations were awarded to the National Turmeric Board, Coconut Development Board and National Jute Board. In the Public Communication and Outreach category, the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services won Gold, while the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Central Board of Direct Taxes took Silver and Bronze, with further commendations to the Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India, SEBI and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
The private sector awards went to RDM Care (AYUR) with Gold, Dairy India Pvt. Ltd. (Ananda) with Silver and a joint Bronze for United Ekta Engineering Udyog Pvt. Ltd. and Mittal Electronics (Sujata). Food stall honours saw Bansal Food and Beverages winning Gold, Rohilya Food Pvt. Ltd. taking Silver and Daana Pani securing Bronze. In vending points, Daana Pani was adjudged best, followed by Gath Bandhan Farms and Bansal Foods and Beverages.
ITPO’s Managing Director Dr. Neeraj Kharwal noted that the 14-day fair drew over 18 lakh visitors and showcased India’s technological capabilities, cultural depth and innovation ecosystem. He also invited suggestions to make future editions more interactive and impactful.
