Tura, Dec 7: The much-anticipated first-day musical highlights at the Me•gong Festival, located in Jengjal, 30 km from Tura, have been postponed to Friday due to persistent rain.
The festival, which commenced with the opening of stalls and other events on Thursday afternoon, faced the impact of continuous rainfall, leading to the postponement of the rock group Parikrama’s scheduled performance on the inaugural day.
West Garo Hills DC Jagdish Chelani, while speaking to Hub News on Thursday evening, confirmed the decision to reschedule the musical events. He emphasised that despite the weather-related setback, the festival remains open to the public from Thursday onwards.
The continuous downpour since Thursday morning led to the complete cancellation of the evening’s musical show and concert.
“The performances will be postponed for tomorrow, but the event is open to all from today afternoon,” confirmed West Garo Hills DC Jagdish Chelani while speaking to Hub News on Thursday evening.
The incessant rains have impacted the footfall at the venue with a sparse crowd on the evening of the inauguration.
