Civilian gundown

Guwahati: Unknown assailants shot dead a civilian in the Pur Panjal Valley’s Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Razaq (40). According to reports when he was coming out of a mosque in Rajouri’s Shadra Sharief area, the unidentified gunmen shot him to dead.

Guwahati: Former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty, singer Usha Uthup and tennis player Rohan Bopanna were among a host of prominent personalities who were conferred with Padma awards by President Droupadi Murmu on April 21(Monday).

Two Indian students killed

Guwahati: Two Indian students in the United States were killed in a traffic collision near Lake Pleasant in Arizona. The victims have been identified as Nivesh Mukka(19) and Goutham Parsi(19), both from India.

Parties seek EC action on Modi

Guwahati: Concerned citizens, the Congress and Left parties have complained to the Election Commission of India against PM Narendra Modi’s divisive remarks in Rajasthan on Sunday, asking it to act and flagging its past failures to do so. Modi during a rally in Banswara said the Congress manifesto pledged to confiscate citizens’ assets, including the mangalsutras of “mothers and sisters”, and distributed them among Muslims.
