Kohima, Sept 4: The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Nagaland Government has urged the Centre to elevate the ongoing Naga peace talks to the highest political level by appointing an interlocutor of political or ministerial rank who carries the full confidence and mandate of the Union Government.
In a crucial meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the PAC resolved that the peace negotiations must now be resumed at the political level to expedite the long-pending process.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers T.R. Zeliang and Yanthungo Patton, several ministers, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members, advisors to the Chief Minister, and MLAs.
An official spokesperson said the PAC also reiterated the resolutions adopted during the Consultative Meeting held on September 12, 2024, in Kohima, which included participation from all stakeholders such as tribal hohos, civil society representatives, church bodies, NGOs, unions, student bodies, and political parties.

The committee expressed appreciation to both the Government of India and the Naga Political Groups for upholding the ceasefire agreements and sustaining dialogue despite challenges over the past two decades.
The PAC further appealed to all sections of Naga society to strengthen unity and bring all stakeholders under a common spirit of understanding. Members agreed to make renewed efforts towards consolidating Naga unity and urged all political groups and E workers” to refrain from further factionalism, breakaway groups, or formation of new organisations.
