Nagaland seeks home-grown scientific solutions

Kohima, June 25: The Nagaland Science Mission (NSM) has invited research and development proposals from indigenous Naga scientists, technologists and researchers for a special multi-disciplinary programme focused on solving location-specific problems in the state.

The initiative, launched by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Nagaland, seeks innovative Science and Technology-based solutions and products that can directly benefit communities and contribute to the state’s development.

Under the programme, researchers from academic institutions, universities, registered societies and R&D organisations with adequate in-house infrastructure are eligible to apply for funding support.

According to the notification issued on Thursday, the grants will cover laboratory consumables and minor scientific equipment, with projects to be completed within a maximum period of two years.

A Technical Expert Committee will scrutinise the proposals and select projects for financial assistance solely on the basis of the technical merit of the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs). The committee’s decision will be final and binding.

The initiative is expected to encourage home-grown scientific research and promote solutions tailored to Nagaland’s unique socio-economic and environmental conditions.

Interested applicants can obtain the prescribed application format and submission guidelines from the Nagaland Science Mission office or by writing to [email protected].

Completed proposals, along with the required certificates and institutional endorsements, must be submitted to the Mission Director, Nagaland Science Mission, Directorate of Science & Technology, Kohima, either by post, in person or via email.

The last date for submission of proposals is July 31, 2026.
