Shillong, Sept 11: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Meghalaya, will host a public demonstration on September 23, 2025, showcasing practical 5G use cases developed by students, startups, and innovators. The event will run from 11 AM to 2 PM at NEHU and is open to the public.
The demonstration is part of the project “Deepening of Scientific Research on 5G Use Cases for Solving Challenges of Society”, funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC)under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), and implemented by the North Eastern Regional Community Resource Management Society (NERCORMS) in collaboration with Amantya Technologies.
The NEHU 5G lab — among the first in India — has become a hub for applied technology research in Meghalaya.
During the event, visitors will witness live prototypes and working solutions designed to address real-world societal challenges using 5G.
Students will present hands-on projects, startups will display early-stage products, and innovators will highlight practical applications in areas ranging from connectivity to community development.
The programme invites students, researchers, policymakers, and the general public to engage with teams, explore prototypes, and discover how next-generation technology is being tailored for the Northeast.
