NHAI begins repairing potholes on NH-06 in Ri Bhoi

Must read

Shillong, June 25: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Wednesday started repairing potholes along National Highway 06, particularly the stretch from Nongpoh to Jorabat, with initial work beginning near Shangbangla.

The move comes after mounting public concern over the deteriorating road conditions, which posed a serious risk to daily commuters and travellers.

The action was taken after a Hub News reporter contacted the NHAI Project Manager for Highway Maintenance, and raised concerns on the potholes on the national highway.

Upon speaking with the project manager, he informed the Hub News reporter that repair works would begin in the next two days. However, when the reporter questioned the delay and insisted on the need for immediate repairs due to the importance of the road, the official agreed to start the repairs on Wednesday itself.

The damaged NH-6 stretch is a vital corridor for travelers and commercial transport and the repair comes as a much-needed relief to road users.
