Tura, Oct 28: Police arrested a notorious motorcycle lifter under Bajengdoba police station on Tuesday and later arrested by Tura police in connection with a theft of a TVS Ronin motrcycle bearing registration no(ML08K 7065) from Fancy valley in West Garo Hills, Tura.
The accused has been identified as- Jamesmond K. Marak @ Simon, a notorious bike lifter.
According to police, a case of motorcycle theft was reported at Tura police station on October 24, 2025.
“During the course of investigation, CCTV and car dash-cam footages from the nearby areas of place of occurrence identified the suspect as one notorious vehicle thief from Balsrigittim, North Garo Hills,” said an police official.
He said, “On identifying him from the footage, search operations were carried out at Bajengdoba and Kachikagra with the assistance and co-ordination of the North Garo Hills District police and on October 27, 2025, the bike lifter was apprehended,”.
“He has been involved in more than 20 numbers of cases of vehicle theft in West Garo Hills district alone and had been arrested on several occasions. He was last arrested along with his gang members in the month of January 2025. He was presently released on bail, and is apparently indulging again in criminal activities of stealing motorcycles,” the police official said.
A Case No. 119/2025 U/S 112(2)/303(2) BNS, 2023 was registered at Tura police station and the accused was produced before the Court on Tuesday.
Efforts are underway to recover the stolen motorcycle.
