SHILLONG, OCT 28: The state police have recovered Rs 12.5 lakh cash from two individuals, Md. Hekmot Ali and Md. Ariful Ali on Tuesday morning.

According to Ri Bhoi SP V Rathore, the two individuals were traveling in a Maruti Swift car bearing registration number AS-01-FN-2132, from Shillong to Guwahati, when they were stopped during a random vehicle checking. Police checked their bag and recovered the cash.

The vehicle and the occupants have been detained at the police station for further verification and enquiry.

The police are trying to ascertain the source of the cash and whether it is linked to any illegal activity.
