Kohima, June 29: In a significant boost for higher education in Nagaland, Tetso College, Chümoukedima, has secured an All India Rank of 198 among the country’s top Bachelor of Arts (BA) colleges in the prestigious India Today-MDRA Best Colleges Ranking Survey 2026.
The achievement places Tetso College among India’s top 200 BA institutions out of nearly 50,000 colleges and institutes assessed nationwide, marking a major milestone for higher education in the state.
The annual India Today-MDRA Best Colleges Ranking, conducted by the India Today Group in association with Marketing and Development Research Associates (MDRA), is regarded as one of the country’s most comprehensive assessments of higher education institutions. Now in its 29th edition, the survey evaluates colleges across 14 major academic streams, including Bachelor of Arts programmes.
The recognition drew praise from the state government, with Nagaland’s Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, congratulating the institution on its achievement.
Advisor to the Chief Minister Abu Metha described the ranking as a milestone not just for Tetso College but for Nagaland as a whole, saying the state is steadily emerging as a destination for quality education and academic excellence.
Established in 1994, Tetso College is a multidisciplinary postgraduate institution in the Dimapur-Chümoukedima region, offering programmes in arts, commerce, management and mass communication. The college has positioned itself as a student-centric institution focused on creating global impact through ethical and innovative educational practices.
The India Today-MDRA rankings have witnessed growing participation over the years, with the number of institutions taking part rising from 988 colleges in 2018 to 1,865 in 2025. The survey increasingly focuses on real-world outcomes, including career progression, placements and return on investment.
