Shillong, Dec 7: The National People’s Party (NPP), Shillong City unit, on Tuesday sought clarification on the cancellation of recruitment of staff under the State Programme Resource Centre (SPRC) of Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA).

Speaking to reporters, the Working President of NPP Shillong City, Anthony N Nongbri said Sibhi Chakravarthy Sadhu, the Mission Director of State Rural Employment Society Meghalaya (SRES), was not able to meet the members due to his busy schedule but the NPP members have submitted the letter in his office. “We need clarification on why the office cancelled the appointments of the staff after calling for applications in the year 2019,” he said while informing that the written test was conducted in December 2020 and the interview in February 2021 but they are yet to announce the results.

However, on 22nd November 2021 a notice of cancellation was issued by the office of SRES mentioning that none of the candidates could secure more than 60% in the recruitment exercise, added Nongbri.

NPP Shillong City Working President sought clarification regarding the cancellation of the recruitment of staff carried out by State Rural Employment Society for the four posts, namely, Training Director, State Planning Manager, Accounts Assistant, and Multitasking staff.

“As per the advertisement posted in the website of SRES, there was no information regarding the desired percentage of marks for being selected. The said office should also produce a copy of the recruitment policy which states that cancellation of a recruitment can be made if candidates could not secure 60% marks… Why the recruiting authority did not cancel the recruitment after scrutinizing the qualifications and documents of the candidates and why there is a delay in issuing the notice for the cancellation of the recruitment,” further questioned Nongbri.
