Kohima, July 9: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) took out a candlelight vigil in Kohima to mourn the killing of six Naga civilians and to demand justice for the victims.
Holding candles and placards, hundreds of students, civil society members and citizens joined the vigil, demanding accountability and security for Naga communities.

Addressing the gathering, NSF leaders condemned the killings as a “heinous crime and a direct assault on the dignity and safety of the Naga people.” The federation called for an immediate, impartial and time-bound NIA investigation and urged both the Manipur State Government and the Government of India to ensure concrete security guarantees in Naga-inhabited areas of Manipur.
“The patience of the Naga people must not be mistaken for weakness. Justice delayed is justice denied,” NSF stated, warning that failure to act swiftly would further erode trust and peace in the region.

The case, along with the murder of three church leaders in Kangpokpi on May 13, has already been handed over to the National Investigation Agency. The killings have drawn widespread condemnation.
The vigil concluded with prayers for the departed souls and a collective call for peace, unity, and justice.
