Shillong, April 23: A Placement and Awareness Programme was held at Mawsynram Border Area College on Wednesday, aimed at equipping students with career guidance and employment opportunities.
The programme was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – Model Career Centre in collaboration with the college’s placement cell at the institution’s auditorium. Resource persons included Idarin Langbnang, Trainer and Counsellor and Eiplanbiang Rymbai, Placement Officer.
Principal Dr. Balawan J. Mawrie, in his welcome address, stressed the importance of bridging the gap between academic learning and professional careers.
The session featured a career counselling and interactive Q&A led by Placement Officer Eiplanbiang Rymbai, followed by a presentation from resource person Idarin Langbnang. The speakers highlighted career opportunities across sectors, the need for a strong CV, and the importance of soft and interpersonal skills in enhancing employability.
Students were also informed about out-of-state placement opportunities, with speakers assuring support from CII. Success stories of previously placed candidates were shared to motivate participants.
The programme concluded with one-on-one counselling and interview interactions, with a large number of students actively participating and gaining insights into various employment avenues.
