Agartala, Mar 19: The Tripura Railway police arrested three drug traffickers including a woman with cannabis at Agartala railway station on Tuesday. The peddlers hail from Bihar and were trafficking the cannabis to Bihar.
They have been identified as Sanjeev Kumar and Sambhu Kumar Yadav, both from Parbatta, while the female drug trafficker was identified as one Mili Priya from Bhagalpur district.
Speaking to media persons, Tapas Das, officer-in-charge of GRP station Agartala said, “based on specific intelligence inputs regarding drug smuggling via the Tejas Rajdhani Express. The GRP and RPF personnel launched an operation and conducted a search operation in long-distance trains. We have detained three individuals including a woman on suspicion of carrying contraband items. We have seized 27 packets of marijuana weighing 46 kg from their trolley bag, backpack, and handbags,”.
A case has been registered at the GRP station in Agartala railway station, and the arrested trio will be produced in court.
He further added that, “during preliminary investigation, they admitted that they had purchased the marijuana at Rs 5000 to Rs 6000 per kilogram and were planning to board the Tejas Rajdhani Express for Bihar,”.
