Post Malone’s first-ever India Headline Concert turns spotlight on Guwahati: Northeast set for a historic night of global music

Guwahati, Dec 7: A global music moment is unfolding in Assam as Guwahati prepares to host Post Malone — one of the most influential artists of this generation — for his first solo headline concert in India on December 8, 2025 at the Khanapara Veterinary Ground.

The event, part of the artist’s Big Ass World Tour, is being promoted by BookMyShow Live and Live Nation in collaboration with the Government of Assam, marking a new chapter for the region’s cultural and entertainment landscape.

Post Malone — born Austin Richard Post — is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer known globally for his genre-blending style that fuses hip-hop, pop, rock, R&B and country. With nine RIAA Diamond-certified singles, he is among the most-certified artists in modern music history.

His chart-topping hits, including “Rockstar,” “Circles,” “Congratulations,” and “Sunflower,” have collectively garnered billions of streams. A multi–GRAMMY Award nominee, Post Malone is celebrated for his emotional lyricism, distinctive vocals and electrifying live performances that attract massive audiences across continents.

On the back of the MoU between BookMyShow and the Assam Tourism Department, Post Malone’s exclusive Guwahati performance marks the first major milestone of this partnership — opening the doors for more national and international acts and strengthening the region’s live entertainment ecosystem.

Padmapani Bora, Managing Director of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation, said the event represents a defining moment in the state’s cultural evolution.

“Assam is on the cusp of a major cultural transformation, and hosting Post Malone in Guwahati stands as a landmark moment in this journey.”

He said the state’s new Concert Tourism Policy aims to position Assam as a leading destination for international music and large-format live experiences.

“Our partnership with BookMyShow Live is a significant step toward strengthening Assam’s entertainment ecosystem… Post Malone’s debut in the Northeast brings global attention to Assam and reflects our commitment to elevating the region’s cultural presence on the world stage.”

Ankur Jain, Joint Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, confirmed a coordinated multi-agency plan to handle the large turnout.

“This joint effort reflects Guwahati’s readiness to confidently host large global events.”

Anil Makhija, COO – Live Entertainment & Venues, BookMyShow, highlighted the significance of the moment:

“This is a landmark moment for the Northeast and a significant step in India’s live entertainment journey… We have partnered with some of the world’s best in production, safety and operations to deliver a show that is immersive, technically cutting-edge and emotionally powerful.”
