Shillong, April 11: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, on Tuesday appealed to the people of the State against circulating a video where churches leaders from Meghalaya were apprehended by Bajrang Dal members in Patna in Bihar and handed over to police. The Dy CM appealed to the people not to spread false information, which could lead to communal tension in the State.

Giving a clarification on the incident, he said there was merely a verbal altercation, and the church leaders were not physically harmed. Expressing concern that the spread of false information could lead to communal tension in the State, he urged people to refrain from sharing such content on social media.

He assured that the government has taken note of the issue and has taken appropriate actions.

He informed that the State Chief Secretary and police officials have already communicated with their counterparts in Bihar and have requested security for the two church leaders. Tynsong also confirmed that the matter has been resolved among the concerned parties and the case is now closed.

The two church leaders are expected to arrive in Guwahati on Tuesday evening, having left Patna after the incident.
