Shillong, Aug 26: In a breakthrough in the murder of two persons in Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills police have arrested the prime accused from Shillong’s Nongrim Hills locality.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (A), G.K. Iangrai on Thursday informed that material evidences have been seized from the residence of the accused person at Nongrim Hills in East Khasi Hills district.
He said the investigation of the case is in progress to further ascertain the facts and circumstances.
On Monday night, a 79-year-old woman and her maid were allegedly murdered at Nongstoin village in West Khasi Hills District.
The victims have been identified as Phlesis Syiem (79) and her maid Maitlynti Lyngdoh Marshillong (25).
According to police, the perpetrator of the crime had locked the house from outside after committing the murder.
