SHILLONG, OCT 22: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has collected a total of Rs 11,57,96, 639 as professional tax this year.
This includes Rs 75,96,936 was collected in March and Rs 10,81,99,703 was collected from April to September, informed KHADC executive member (EM) Seiborlang Rynjah in the House on Wednesday.

Rynjah highlighted that there has been an increase in the collection of professional tax by the council.
He mentioned that certain professionals, including lawyers, are required to pay professional tax. Additionally, banks are also liable to pay professional tax to be council.
The executive committee is working on a proper format for assessing professional tax payments, Rynjah added.
