Must read

Shillong July 11: The Rapido Captains (Riders) on Monday appealed to the government to allow them to ride offline their own two wheelers stand.

Speaking to the media after their meeting with the District Transport Officer (DTO) D. Lamin, the Rapido Captian’s representative Nehemaiah Mylliemngap informed that the decision on the matter will be taken in consultation with higher authorities in the government.

The DTO also clarified that all the rules and regulations are to be followed by the riders.

To get the approval from the government the riders were asked to fulfil terms and conditions viz.,  having a valid driving licence, providing pan card, Aadhar and application to book an online ride for safety of the customer.

“We (riders) accept all the terms and conditions set by the government but as we are just part timers who try to earn a living, support ourselves and our family, it is not possible for us to make our own application” said Mylliemngap.

When asked whether the other riders support the ideas of working offline, Mylliemngap informed that around 90 of the riders have supported the ideas and hope that others will join and people will support them.
