Shillong, Apr 4: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) and PA Sangma International Medical College and Hospital (PIMC) hosted Dr Yesmin Nureja, a leading Clinical Oncologist from Apollo Cancer Centres, Chennai, on Saturday.
Dr Nureja interacted with MBBS students, sharing her expertise on cancer diagnosis, radiation therapy, and multidisciplinary cancer care.
She stressed the importance of empathy, ethics, and evidence-based medicine in treating cancer patients.

“Empathy and evidence-based medicine are crucial in dealing with cancer patients,” she said.
The session was highly interactive, with students engaging through questions and discussions.
Dr Nureja also met with PIMC’s nursing staff, highlighting their vital role in oncology care, patient counselling, and supportive treatment.
“Nursing professionals play a crucial role in cancer care, and continuous skill upgradation is essential,” she said.
Dr Nureja’s visit aimed to inspire and educate future medical professionals, and her insights were well-received by students and faculty alike.
