SHILLONG, MAY 27: Rongjeng MLA Jim M Sangma on Wednesday expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and state government officials for their swift intervention in repatriating the mortal remains of Kresitha G Momin, a violin teacher from Garo Hills who passed away in Dubai last week.

Speaking to reporters, Sangma said Momin suffered a cardiac arrest on May 15 and was admitted to a private hospital in Dubai.

“She was hospitalized in a private hospital but unfortunately passed away on May 21,” he said.

Her remains were brought back to Garo Hills and the funeral was held in his constituency on Tuesday.

“She was brought home to Garo Hills in my constituency, and her funeral was held yesterday,” the MLA said.

Sangma credited the state government’s timely action for enabling the repatriation.
“I would like to thank Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, government officials, the Chief Secretary and his entire team,” he said.

“They intervened at the right time, and that is why we were able to bring home the mortal remains of Kresitha G Momin.”

Addressing questions about the circumstances of her death, the MLA said there was no indication of foul play.

“All her close friends from Meghalaya visited her in the hospital on May 15,” he noted.

He described her death as a significant loss to the family. “It is a big loss for the family because she was the sole earner. She was earning well in Dubai,” Sangma said. “It is very sad news.”
