Shillong, May 23: Lajja Ram Bishnoi the newly appointed DGP of Meghalaya call upon Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong on Monday.

The Meghalaya government on May 20 appointed IPS Officer LR Bishnoi as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya.

Speaking to Hub News, DGP Bishnoi said that on assuming the post on Friday evening, he has had meetings with senior officers to understand the issues related to crimes in the State. “As noted, the Safe and Secure Meghalaya has been have been the priority of the Meghalaya Police and this will continue to be so”, said DGP Bishnoi.

On asked how to tackle the rise in crimes against women and children, DGP Bishnoi noted that as the crime against women and children is a bit high in the city of Shillong compared to the other districts, and his main focus is to reduce crime against women and children.

“We will take up crime review meetings and will discuss the strategy to overcome this problem,” he added.

He also urged fellow police officers to be humble to work as a team and always treat the people of the state with respectable behaviour.
